Case study · Demolition · Munich

One walkthrough, all the documentation.

How project manager Pierre Manthe documents the demolition of an office building in Munich with Plonda – and answers questions using the walkthrough from the relevant day.

Starting point.

A demolition site changes every day: what was standing yesterday has been demolished today. Project management must continuously record conditions, hazardous materials, tasks and approvals – and later prove how things looked on a particular day.

How a walkthrough works.

1

Pierre walks through the building with the 360° camera and speaks his observations.

2

Plonda locates every spoken observation in the walkthrough and turns it into entries with trade and location.

3

On Friday, the weekly report is ready as a draft – from everything that was documented in the week.

Entry “Strip-out works fully completed”, located in the walkthrough

For queries.

Before demolition began, Pierre recorded the access road, pavements and kerbs in the walkthrough – including existing damage. If a question arises later, he opens the walkthrough from the relevant day, checks the earlier condition and measures it in 3D.

When tar cork was found in the washroom, the discovery was recorded in the site log that same day with its location, date and 360° evidence – together with a task to submit a variation.

Pierre Manthe
“A 30-minute walkthrough gives me a complete list of tasks, defects and documentation, sorted by trade. I can measure everything in 3D and refer to it at any time if there is a dispute.”

Pierre Manthe, Project Manager, Dipl.-Ing. (TUM), campus Ingenieurgesellschaft mbH
